Multimedia Designer / Administrator Resume

I’m an experienced designer who has worked across a spectrum of media. Currently, I’m a user experience designer who has worked on supporting and redesigning apps and websites for several companies, both large and small. In addition to designing websites and apps, I’ve worked on designing and producing print materials, videos and motion graphics, brand style guides, art installation proposals, and more. And I’ve developed a number of WordPress websites of various complexity. The scope of industries I’ve worked in includes eCommerce, agriculture, nonprofits, arts, medical, and more.

My combination of experiences and interests makes me a unique resource. In addition to design, I’m experienced in administration, running a business, and as hobbies, automotive restoration and repair, and furniture design and construction. I enjoy working across vastly different projects, I enjoy getting my hands dirty, and I do well with organizational and administrative tasks.

Client Resources, Inc.

2015-Present / Lead User Experience Designer

I worked both independently and collaboratively with a small team of designers, often leading the design project from beginning to end. Projects include websites and apps for several different clients, ranging from small start ups to multi-billion dollar companies. The websites and apps I designed were often our clients primary form of engagement with their customers. I worked on all aspects of the design process, begining with stakeholder interviews and user research, working through iterations of interface design and validation testing, through development handoff, and final review before being released to our clients. Many projects lead to on going partnerships which resulted in regular research, backlog grooming sessions and analysis of user feedback to determine further improvements and enhancements to the user experience.

Sole Proprietor

2010-Present / Designer / Editor / Assistant

Since 2010, I’ve operated my own freelance business. I’ve dabbled in many areas, including graphic design, motion graphics, web design, production assistant, photography and videography. My primary focus has been web design and development for individuals and small businesses. From 2013-2015, this was my full time job, up until I was sought out and offered a User Experience Designer position at Client Resources, Inc. Since being hired, I’ve continued to keep a small, select number of clients that I work for in my off hours.

West Hills Church

2009-2013 / Administrative Assistant / Designer

Primarily an administrative position, I worked designing the website and print materials for the West Hill Church Youth department. I completely redesigned and supported the youth website, managed social media engagement, and would design and print weekly and season materials for mailing and handing out during services and youth group events.

User Experience

Through my time at Client Resources, Inc. I’ve carried out several successful UX engagements for websites and apps for various customers. Throughout each engagement, I would help conduct user research, user and stakeholder interviews, design UI mockups and interactive prototypes, conduct validation testing using interactive prototypes, and assemble design specs in final deliverables to hand off to developers. I’ve helped develop and carry out a user experience process, in collaboration with other designers on the UX design team. I’ve also played a significant roll in choosing the tools we use and how we present and hand off deliverable to our clients and our own development team.

Video & Motion

During my time freelancing, for both West Hills Church and Client Resources, Inc., and as a hobby I have created numerous videos where I was both videographer and editor. These videos span automotive culture, agriculture, advertising, weddings, religious, and general informational. I’ve worked on videos for start ups, larger corporations, and individuals. Many of these videos included custom motion graphics that I designed and created. These videos were made for online use, presented in front of large audiences, and most notably, displayed in Times Square.

My print design experience is largely based around my experiences at West Hills Church, where I would design and print weekly hand outs, seasonal brochures, mailers, calendars, and informational signage. Currently, at CRi, I have also helped produce sales materials that our sales team can leave behind with prospective customers.

Throughout every job I’ve held, I’ve been drawn towards these tasks. For several freelance experiences I worked as production assistant, where I ensured equipment was available and set up, talent was ready, documents and information was recorded and stored correctly. At West Hills I was responsible for record keeping of various information and helped organize and order equipment and goods. At CRi, I mange the user teams for certain tools, monitor billing, help manage devices and hardware, and enjoy researching and proposing new equipment purchases.

Both as a professional and as a hobby, I have experience in shooting, editing and manipulating photos. Some of my favorite work has been editing and manipulating artwork photography for display on artist websites, and automotive photography. I’ve also regularly incorporated photography in print and digital designs.

Automobiles can be an outward expression of their owners. Working on them brings a sense of accomplishment. Bringing a classic car back to life is both nostalgic and an exercise in creativity and problem solving. I appreciate the engineering and the design of cars new and old. This is why I’ve become so drawn to them and have owned, modified and restored the number of cars that I have. Automobiles have connected me with many great people and have opened many great opportunities. My time as president of Omaha VW Club, and ongoing roles within the club, has brought a lot of great leadership and planning experiences.

I love interior design, and because I love working with my hands, when I can’t find something I like, I’ll build it. I’ve built a small number of pieces of furniture and lamps from scratch and restore and collect other furniture as well. One of my dreams is to have a shop where I can design and build my own furniture for myself and produce a small number of pieces to sell.
